NIKE
HUMAN RACE
August 2008
Perry Scenic were brought in to take care of the printed banners,
dressings and backdrop for this high profile marketing event
at the Wembley Stadium. As always, there was a tight schedule
for setting up the event, and the client wanted to be sure
the branding was produced and rigged to high quality within
the time schedule for the event, which was being televised
worldwide. As it happened it was an eventful time, loading
in at 3.00am Sunday morning in the rain, our rigger was on
the Stage roof during a thunder and lightening storm, and last
minute alterations were necessary, yet tackled comfortably
on site. Needless to say the branding was ready in time, the
set looked great, and we remained on site day and night, non-stop
throughout the event.

KYLIE
2008 “X” Tour B Set
August 2008
From the client’s concept idea, a little Perry Scenic magic produced a series
of highly lightweight enduring moving frames, which dancers and artistes could
themselves readily move around the stage, safely and with ease, during intensely
energetic and fast paced dance routines. These Props rigged straightforwardly
and packed up as neat touring equipment. We also produced a series of drapes
for both the award winning Kylie “X” Tour 2008 B set and A set. |

BULL
RING SHIP
July 2008
Following the successful BMI Beech which Perry Scenic installed
in Birmingham city centre for the summer of 2007, the Birmingham
Bull Ring Shopping Centre asked Perry Scenic in 2008 if they
had any ideas for the coming summer, which were in keeping
with the holiday summer beech theme. Perry Scenic said “why
not beach a Cruise Liner in the middle of the shopping centre?”
The Bull Ring said “can you do that?” We said “yes”, to which
of course they replied “but can you do it within our budget?”
Unwilling to turn down a challenge and lose the opportunity
to make a splash Perry Scenic embarked upon designing and
building a cruise ship attraction which would spend the summer
on the Bull Ring’s doorstep, in St Martin’s Square, and the
tradition of Birmingham City Centre having a summer beach
event was begun. This temporary installation was a huge success,
bringing not only local and national TV coverage to its opening,
but also streams of people during the summer, to appreciate
the environment, the occasion, and to simply chill with refreshments
– on this atmospheric beach, in Birmingham City Centre. It
brought a welcome focal point for local warmth in the Bull
Ring for the summer. |

EDWARD
SCISSORHANDS
February 2008
For the second time Perry Scenic was invited to refurbish the
hugely successful and much travelled Edward Scissorhands Stage
Set. As in 2006 we repaired and rebuilt many items including
parts of this full scale large Theatrical touring set, including
flooring, props, Scenic items, drapes, and fabrications large
and small. Following our two major overhauls, the set is now
far more suited to large long haul world tours, welcomed by
crew and management alike.

ALTON
TOWERS
January 2008
An opportunity to build a themed installation at Alton Towers brought a welcome
occasion for Perry Scenic to re-enter the Themed Environment Industry after a
few years of being predominantly occupied with Rock and Pop and Theatre. It has
been forgotten by some that Perry Scenic was a major player in the production
of Themed Environments in the 1990s, theming several Sea Life Centres in the
United Kingdom, Germany, and Holland also Expo ’92 in Seville, the first Cadbury
World, and York Dungeons, amongst others. For Mutiny Bay at Alton Towers we realised
the design concepts in style, and installed, into an outdoor setting, high quality
Scenic Set Pieces, including an 8 foot sculpted painted skull and a dinosaur
skeleton. |

WEDDING
EVENT
January 2008
Perry Scenic was asked to deal with all aspects of the show
and staging for a showbiz wedding event at a hotel in Park
Lane. We designed and made a fresh bright Stage Setting for
the marriage ceremony, themed into the existing ornately art
deco style of the room. Much to the bride’s surprise after
the ceremony, the Stage Set transformed into a full bodies
Stage Show with Busby Berkley Hollywood style dancers to start
the celebrations with some original razzle dazzle. The Bride
and Groom’s departure was also heralded by an extra special
finale. Perry Scenic themed the wedding with art deco elements
and video room, and took care of every part of the setting
from concept and Show design, Set build, Lighting, Dancers,
Special Effects, Art Direction and Management of the Event.
